Broadway Musicals Reviews

There is one genre that combines the art forms of song, music, dance and spoken dialogue. If anything, it’s one of the most difficult forms of stage play to direct and act, but its popularity makes all the effort worthwhile nonetheless. Famous names like Show Boat, West Side Story, Hair, Phantom of the Opera, Les Miserables and Rent fall under this category. It’s called Broadway musical, and it’s been around as early as the 20th century.

Much like other Broadway productions, musicals follow a set of standards, and that’s where Broadway musical reviews come in.

A Broadway musical review is a written or spoken (captured on video) analysis of a Broadway stage play. We can’t say much about amateur reviews, but a Broadway musical review by a professional critic attempts to deconstruct the show to provide constructive feedback. “What’s all this for,” you ask? All in the name of improving the standards of new and future productions.

Simply put, if you don’t implement quality control, the brand name is bound to deteriorate over time. Same goes for Broadway musicals.

So take notes the next time you watch a musical along Broadway. Who knows? You might just write a great Broadway musical review and build a career out of it.
